SAN FRANCISCO, CA (Dec 22, 2022) — Aclima, the pioneer in hyperlocal air pollution and greenhouse gas measurement and analysis, welcomed new team members across all departments in 2022, including the addition of key leaders in finance, growth, customer success, and communications. The new hires joined as Aclima prepares to expand its air quality and emissions measurement and analysis platform on a national and global scale. Together, these leaders will guide company development and growth to enable governments, industry, and communities to take bold, data-driven climate action.
Meme Scherr, Chief Financial Officer, supports the financial success of the company overseeing its capital strategy, business model expansion, go-to-market development, and more. She brings a breadth of experience as an operations leader, investor, and fund manager. Prior to joining Aclima, Scherr was Partner, Head of Business Development, and Chief Operating Officer at Sensato Investors, a boutique investment management firm focused on Asia. Scherr brings over 25 years of experience from companies including Goldman Sachs. Throughout her career, she’s focused on cultivating deep, trusted relationships, building successful businesses, and driving strong revenue growth for both startups and large enterprises. Simultaneously, Scherr has prioritized investing in female founders in early-stage tech and healthcare companies with Plum Alley and is an advisor to the Donor Advised Funds at Impact Assets for Plum Alley and The 22 Fund. Having immigrated to the United States from South Korea, Scherr finds deep value in community and strives to support others through her work. Scherr’s prioritization of multiculturalism and inclusivity align with Aclima's broader commitment to reflecting the diversity of the communities and customers that it serves.
Alex Katzman, Vice President of Growth, focuses on expanding Aclima’s hyperlocal air quality and climate pollution measurement SaaS solutions to new customers and industry verticals. Katzman has been leading go-to-market teams at high growth SaaS companies in the climate space for more than a decade. Most recently, Katzman was Chief Growth Officer at Enervee, where he built and scaled the sales, business development, and customer success teams from scratch to deliver the company’s energy efficiency marketplace to utilities reaching 35 million US households. Before Enervee, Katzman led product and business development for a smart grid billing platform at SK Telecom and also led the customer implementation team at Acturis, the fastest-growing SaaS insurance platform in the United Kingdom. At Aclima, Katzman is leveraging his experience working with utilities and government agencies to provide Aclima’s customers with the information and solutions they need to propel climate action. Katzman is an avid traveler and passionate cuisine explorer who brings a global perspective to Aclima’s growth strategy.
Sarah Cafasso, Director of Communications, leads Aclima’s strategic communications to drive growth, raise awareness, and support the company’s mission of catalyzing bold climate action that protects public health, reduces emissions, and delivers clean air for all. Cafasso joined Aclima from Stanford University’s Natural Capital Project, a global partnership that uses science and technology to motivate targeted investment in nature, where she directed external and internal communications as Director of Communications. Previously, she managed communications and engagement for the US Environmental Protection Agency at Superfund sites across the Western US and during federal emergencies like wildfires and oil spills. Bringing more than a decade of experience at the intersection of communication, environmentalism, and social impact, Cafasso crafts and shares Aclima's story with the broader customers and communities it works to serve. She is the company’s primary media relations contact and drives editorial content, social media, science communications, and storytelling across Aclima’s channels. As a former US Peace Corps Volunteer, Cafasso is committed to public service and harnessing communications to build an equitable, sustainable future.
Lisa Fisher, Director of City Impact, leads relationship-building and customer solutions for cities and other government agencies in the United States and Europe. Fisher brings more than 20 years of experience in the urban planning and sustainable development sector to Aclima. In her previous role as Resilience & Sustainability Lead for the San Francisco Planning Department, Fisher co-created the City’s new interagency Climate SF Program and co-led its key citywide plans and strategies (e.g. Climate Action and Hazards and Climate Resilience plans). Prior, she was an Associate Principal at AECOM Design & Planning, where she served as Project Director for private and public sector sustainable urban regeneration projects around the globe. As part of the Aclima team, Fisher is responsible for strategizing and guiding how the company’s products and solutions can help connect the dots between climate, environmental justice, health, and other quality of life needs in urban communities — and best drive action. Fisher also continues her passion for speaking and teaching about climate-positive cities and their critical role in solving the world’s toughest problems.
“We couldn’t have been more excited to welcome Meme, Alex, Sarah, and Lisa to our team over the course of this past year,” said Davida Herzl, CEO and co-founder of Aclima. “With Meme’s leadership as Chief Financial Officer and Alex as VP of Growth, we’re swiftly accelerating team and business growth — on our way to scaling our solutions profitably across even more cities and countries. Lisa and Sarah’s previous work in the environmental field has been critical to our industry’s understanding of climate change, emissions, and climate action. Together, they are helping us guide Aclima’s innovation and impact as we increase our solution’s impact in communities around the globe.”
As more regulators and cities globally depend on Aclima for hyperlocal air quality and greenhouse gas data to drive public health and climate action planning, the 2022 leadership hires have been crucial in the launch of key company initiatives in the Bay Area and New York state, new partnerships, and new products. The company looks forward to accelerating momentum in hiring, business development, and impact in 2023.
